Kenny Rossmore is David Clark's neighbor, a sheltered teenager who has probably never left Denver. Jason Sudeikis recruits him as the fake son for a cross-border drug run because Kenny is so genuinely awkward that no one would suspect him of anything. Poulter plays Kenny as the kid who raises his hand in class when nobody else does. Eager, painfully sincere, catastrophically naive. In Rawson Marshall Thurber's 2013 comedy, Kenny endures a spider bite in a very unfortunate place, an awkward kissing lesson, and a kidnapping, and somehow comes out of it with more confidence than he started with.
A Casio G-Shock on a teenager is the most believable watch choice in this entire movie. The G-Shock is what teenage boys wear when they want something that feels tough. Kenny probably saved up for it or got it for Christmas. It is big on his wrist, durable beyond anything his life actually requires, and completely earnest. There is nothing ironic about Kenny wearing a G-Shock. He means it.
Four watch sightings across one film, and each one fits its character. The suburban dad gets the knockoff polo brand. The dealer gets something forgettable. The stripper playing mom gets the department-store fashion watch. And the kid gets the G-Shock. The costume department understood that every prop either sells the lie or breaks it.
