Privacy Policy

WatchSpotting collects only what it needs to operate the site and the iOS app. We do not sell data to anyone, we do not run third-party advertising, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

What we collect

If you create an account: your display name, email address, and a securely hashed password. If you participate: your votes, comments, and sighting submissions, linked to your account. Standard server logs (IP address, user agent) are kept briefly for security and abuse prevention.

How we use it

Account data is used to sign you in and attribute your contributions. Comments and submissions are stored for moderation and editorial review. Email addresses are used for account functions only; we do not send marketing email.

Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from the app's settings or by emailing us. Deletion removes your account, votes, and comments.

Third parties

The site is served through Cloudflare, which processes requests as a network provider. We use privacy-respecting, first-party analytics. No data is shared with advertisers or data brokers.
