In the mirror-walled museum at the end of John Wick: Chapter 2, the exhibition called Reflections of the Soul, Wick is swarmed by Santino D'Antonio's assassins and ends up trading blows with several of them at once across the glass. One of them, an uncredited member of Ares's team, gets a tattooed forearm locked around Wick's neck. On that forearm, catching the gallery's hard light, is a Richard Mille.

Specifically it is the RM 052, the Skull. The death's head is not painted on a dial. It is the watch's skeleton, the titanium bridges that hold the movement together shaped into a skull that stares out through the open face, with a flying tourbillon turning down at six o'clock where the jaw would be. The case is the Richard Mille tonneau, fifty millimeters of titanium fixed together by the brand's signature spline screws around the bezel, sapphire front and back. New, it runs about half a million dollars.

There is something perfect about it turning up here. John Wick built a world where assassins move through a luxury economy of gold coins, bespoke suits, and a members-only hotel, and where the watches cost as much as everything else. A skeletonized half-million-dollar tourbillon on a man whose whole job is to die in the third act belongs in that world completely. Nobody in the film so much as glances at it.
