Civil War is full of journalists, and the watch fans who combed the film tagged the young ones' wrists: a Timex on Cailee Spaeny's rookie photographer, a Luminox on Wagner Moura's reporter. The wrist nobody pinned down belongs to the oldest of them, Stephen McKinley Henderson's Sammy, the veteran New York Times man who is the group's conscience and mentor.

You see his watch in a dark, fire-lit moment when Sammy reaches up and the crystal catches the orange light. It is a rounded metal case on a worn leather strap, a dress watch more than a war-zone tool. The glare swallows the dial, and no maker's name survives the frame.
