Meryl Streep wears a Cartier Tank

David Frankel returns to direct The Devil Wears Prada 2, with Meryl Streep back as Miranda Priestly, the Runway editor steering the magazine through a changed media landscape. Costume designer Molly Rogers put a Cartier Tank Française on Miranda's wrist and summed up the choice for British GQ: a classic everyday watch that you still know not everybody gets to wear. That is Miranda in a single object.

The Tank Française, reference WGTA0344, is the integrated-bracelet evolution of the Tank that Louis Cartier designed in 1917, its brushed and polished links flowing straight out of the case so the whole reads as one piece. There are no diamonds asking for attention. The value is legible only to people who already recognize it, which is the kind of power Miranda prefers.
