Home / Independence Day: Resurgence / James A. Woods
- Actor
- James A. Woods
- Character
- Lt. Ritter
- Status
- Confirmed
Lt. Ritter is the kind of role that exists to watch a screen and report bad news, a uniformed officer at Jake Morrison's side in Roland Emmerich's Independence Day: Resurgence (2016). The man playing him had a larger claim on the film than the part lets on: James A. Woods co-wrote it. He and his writing partner Nicolas Wright sold the script and took small roles, which is how a screenwriter ends up monitoring the alien fleet from the background of his own movie.
His watch is a Hamilton Khaki Pilot Automatic Chronograph, one of four Hamiltons the brand placed across the film as part of a Hollywood program it counts in the hundreds of pictures. The others went to Liam Hemsworth (the Khaki X-Wind), Bill Pullman (a gold Thin-O-Matic), and Jeff Goldblum (a Jazzmaster GMT); Woods got the Khaki Pilot, a steel chronograph descended from the field watches Hamilton supplied the US military in the 1940s.
