The camera finds Joe sitting in the open in body armor, a rifle across her knees and a scarf wound at her throat, a black watch pushed up over the cuff of her sleeve. Zoe Saldana plays Joe, the CIA case officer who runs the Lioness program in Taylor Sheridan's Paramount+ thriller, sending female operatives into the households of the men the agency wants dead. She handles much of the work through a screen and a radio and goes forward herself when things go wrong, and the series keeps her stretched between the war she manages and the husband and daughters she keeps failing to get back to.
The watch is an MTM Special Ops Black Cobra 35, catalog number C35BBDTITMTM. It is the blacked-out version of the brand's Cobra chronograph, built on the 35-millimeter titanium case the company markets to smaller wrists, with a Japanese quartz movement, a sapphire crystal, and a rotating inner bezel. It sells for about two thousand dollars. There is no guesswork about who wore it. MTM keeps a page of its on-screen placements, and the entry says in plain words that the Black Cobra 35 can be seen on Zoe Saldana in Lioness, dated to the first episode of the second season, beside listings for Nicole Kidman and Thad Luckinbill in the same show.
Her wrist changed between seasons. In the first she wore a Luminox, and by the second the production had moved her to a watch with the words Special Ops printed across its dial, worn by a character in a show called Special Ops: Lioness. The all-black case carries no shine and reads as gear rather than jewelry. The Black Cobra 35 is a chronograph, a stopwatch made to clock an event to a hundredth of a second, and Joe spends every episode running other people's lives against that kind of clock.
