Willem Dafoe plays Marcus, an aging assassin who accepts a contract on John Wick and never means to fill it. The film puts him on a rooftop with a scoped rifle, lets him line up the shot, and has him spend it saving Wick instead. Chad Stahelski directed, with David Leitch, both former stunt coordinators.
On Marcus's wrist is a Carl F. Bucherer Manero AutoDate in black, reference 00.10915.08.33.01. It is a 42-millimeter steel watch on the brand's automatic CFB 1950 caliber, good for thirty-eight hours, with sapphire crystals front and back, the date at three, and a black alligator strap. The design follows Carl F. Bucherer's 1960s style, classic and understated.
John Wick is where Carl F. Bucherer's run in the franchise started. The Lucerne house put the same Manero AutoDate on Keanu Reeves in a lighter dial, and a Patravi ChronoGrade on Daniel Bernhardt, and its watches have stayed on John Wick's wrist through the sequels. For a brand without the reach of the big Swiss names, it was a long and visible placement.
