Ted Danson plays Jack Holden in Three Men and a Baby, an actor who comes home to find his bachelor pad occupied by an infant his roommate fathered. Leonard Nimoy directed this 1987 comedy, which became the highest-grossing film of its year despite being a remake of a French movie most American audiences had never heard of. Danson was riding high on Cheers at the time, and the film let him play a variation on his sitcom persona: charming, vain, and completely out of his depth with anything requiring responsibility. Tom Selleck and Steve Guttenberg play his roommates, and the three of them spend the film learning to change diapers and mix formula while drug dealers circle the apartment looking for a package that got delivered by mistake. The combination of slapstick baby comedy and thriller subplot should not work, but Nimoy keeps things moving fast enough that nobody notices. His watch has not been identified.
