Ray Breslin builds prisons nobody can break out of, then gets locked inside one of his own designs. Sylvester Stallone plays him in Escape Plan, Mikael Håfström's 2013 thriller that drops Breslin into a black-site prison called The Tomb and teams him with a fellow inmate, Arnold Schwarzenegger's Emil Rottmayer, to engineer a way out.

On Breslin's wrist is a Luminox Black Ops Carbon 8815, a 45mm watch with a carbon-reinforced case and tritium tubes that glow on their own without needing light to charge them. Luminox built its name on exactly this kind of watch, the tactical quartz tool issued to Navy SEALs and police units, and the placement here was the brand's own doing: Luminox posted Stallone wearing it and put the same 8815 on Schwarzenegger too, getting both aging action stars on one watch in one film.

It is a sensible watch for the part. Breslin is an engineer, not a collector, and a rugged quartz tool that survives being confiscated and knocked around suits a man who breaks out of maximum-security prisons for a living.
