Mikael Håfström's Escape Plan (2013) brought Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger together as co-leads for the first time after more than two decades running parallel careers in Hollywood action cinema. Stallone plays Ray Breslin, a structural security expert who breaks out of prisons professionally. Schwarzenegger is Emil Rottmayer, a prisoner in a high-tech private facility called The Tomb who knows more than he tells Breslin. Jim Caviezel plays the warden. Sam Neill, Vincent D'Onofrio, and Vinnie Jones fill out the ensemble.
On Rottmayer's wrist is a Luminox Black Ops A.8815, a carbon-reinforced tactical watch with a 45mm case and a quartz movement. Its defining feature is tritium illumination: tiny borosilicate glass tubes filled with tritium gas and coated with phosphor that emit a constant glow for roughly twenty-five years without batteries, charging, or any external light source. Barry Cohen founded Luminox in San Francisco in 1989, naming it from the Latin lux and nox — light and night. The U.S. Navy SEALs adopted the brand's Original Navy SEAL series in 1993. Both Stallone and Schwarzenegger wear the same model in the film.
