Sam Nivola wears a Swatch MoonSwatch

In the third season of The White Lotus, the Ratliff family arrives at a resort in Thailand with its money on its wrists: Timothy in a gold Rolex Day-Date, Victoria in a vintage one, Saxon rotating through a Rolex Milgauss and a Hublot. The youngest son wears plastic. Lochlan turns up on a resort lounger in a t-shirt and shorts, a sand-colored chronograph on his wrist, the cheapest thing any Ratliff is wearing.

The watch is a Swatch MoonSwatch, the Mission to Saturn, reference SO33T100. It is the Bioceramic Speedmaster that Swatch and Omega built together in 2022: a 42mm case of zirconia ceramic and bio-sourced plastic, a quartz chronograph, a beige dial under a brown tachymeter bezel, and a small ringed Saturn set into the subdial at six o'clock. It sold for about 270 dollars and still drew lines around the block.

Sam Nivola plays Lochlan as the malleable one, the youngest, who takes after whichever sibling he is standing next to. The watch is a copy of the Speedmaster, the chronograph NASA sent to the moon, worn here by the Ratliff with the least anywhere to go. The rest of the family wears watches that announce who they are. Lochlan wears the one everyone his age wanted.
