The real Laurence Golborne parlayed his role in the Chilean mining rescue into a political career, nearly running for president before a financial scandal derailed the campaign. Rodrigo Santoro plays him in Patricia Riggen's The 33 (2015) as the Mining Minister who arrived at the San Jose mine in a dress shirt and tie, looking every bit the government official out of his element in the Atacama Desert. Golborne pushed the rescue forward when the mining company wanted to abandon the effort, and the film gives him credit for that.
Santoro wears a dark-dialed watch on his left wrist, visible here as he stands at the mine perimeter with suited officials behind him and a "PARE" sign to his left. The watch hasn't been identified. A minister visiting a mine collapse is not dressed for the terrain, and the watch fits that disconnect — something from a Santiago office, not a rescue site.
