Top Gun is a 1986 Navy recruitment film disguised as a movie, and it worked — applications to the Naval Academy reportedly went up after it opened. Tony Scott directed, and the film made Tom Cruise a star by putting him in a leather jacket and aviator sunglasses and filming him against golden sunsets. Rick Rossovich plays Lieutenant Ron "Slider" Kerner, the Radar Intercept Officer who flies with Val Kilmer's Iceman. Slider is the muscle of the rival team — bigger, louder, more aggressive than his pilot — and Rossovich plays him as someone who talks trash because Iceman is too cool to do it himself.
His watch is not identifiable in the available image, which shows the graduation ceremony where Iceman accepts the Top Gun trophy. Navy personnel in white dress uniforms at a ceremony like this could be wearing anything from a standard-issue military watch to a personal timepiece, but nothing is visible clearly enough to say what Rossovich has on his wrist.
