The Ratliff family comes up the resort dock in a loose line, and at the center Saxon walks in a blue-striped shirt with the sleeves pushed up, sunglasses on, his left arm swinging down with a black weight strapped at the wrist. Saxon Ratliff is the eldest Ratliff child, played by Patrick Schwarzenegger in the third season of The White Lotus, a young man who treats money as the only scoreboard that counts and spends the season coaching his younger brother into the same game.
The watch is a Hublot Big Bang Unico Black Magic, a 44mm chronograph in black ceramic with a skeletonized dial that leaves the movement on show, and it sells for about 23,000 dollars. Hublot launched the Big Bang in 2005, and the watch became the trade's shorthand for money that wants to be looked at. GQ's watch editor read its casting onto Saxon as deliberate, a prop that says new money before the character says anything.
Up close the Big Bang is an engineering object, its in-house Unico chronograph turning behind the open dial. At dock distance none of that registers. The watch reads as a black puck, all surface, which is the only part of it Saxon's world was ever going to see. The season then hands him a watch that argues the opposite case: a Rolex Milgauss, discontinued in 2023 and built for scientists rather than show, with a lightning-bolt seconds hand almost no stranger across a room would recognize.
