Mel Gibson wears a Breitling Avenger

Conrad Stonebanks is the arms trader waiting at the Mogadishu drop point, a disgraced co-founder of the Expendables who went rogue, was presumed dead, and resurfaces selling the bombs. He shoots Hale Caesar in the firefight, drops a bomb on the team from his helicopter, and later takes the four young hires captive. Mel Gibson plays him through all of it with a watch on each costume, and the two watches do not match.

In one production still he aims a scoped rifle with a big steel chronograph on his left wrist, a multi link bracelet, chronograph pushers, and an engraved bezel, and the contemporaneous census of the film's watches read that one as a first generation Breitling Super Avenger, with the hedge that it only looked like one. In another still he holds a revolver with a dark cased chronograph on a bracelet of black links with polished centers, which is not the Breitling at all. The auction of the production's wardrobe explains the second watch: the Stonebanks hero costume that Heritage sold in October 2014, the kit with the rubber engraved Colt .45 and a medallion bearing the Colombian coat of arms, lists a replica Rado chronograph in high tech ceramic among its contents. So the record stands at likely rather than confirmed. The steel watch in the rifle still matches the census's Super Avenger reading, no source puts a genuine Breitling on the production's books, and the one watch the paper trail does document on Stonebanks is a Rado that only ever existed as a prop.
