Max Drummer runs the Expendables from the CIA side of the desk in The Expendables 3, a field operations officer and former Air Force pilot who hands Barney Ross the job of capturing Conrad Stonebanks, the disgraced Expendables co-founder turned arms dealer, and who flies the rescue helicopter himself in the final battle. Harrison Ford took the role after Bruce Willis left the franchise over money; the reported numbers were an offer of 3 million dollars for four days of shooting in Bulgaria against a demand for 4 million. Patrick Hughes directed.
The helicopter is the part with a fact behind it. Ford holds a pilot's license for both fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters, and he has used it: in 2000 he airlifted an EMT to a dehydrated hiker on Table Mountain, in 2001 he picked up a thirteen-year-old Boy Scout lost near Yellowstone, and his Bell 407 has flown two mountain rescues on duty with Teton County Search and Rescue. The Expendables 3 cast a working rescue pilot as the man who flies the rescue.
The watch is another matter. The film was catalogued wrist by wrist when it came out: a Richard Mille on Stallone, Panerais across Barney's crew, U-Boats on Schwarzenegger and Grammer, a Snyper on Rousey, a Breitling on Gibson. Ford's wrist came up empty; the census recorded nothing spotted on him, or on Banderas, or on Snipes. An on-set photograph from the production shows him in glasses with a hand on Stallone's shoulder and a steel watch on a link bracelet under his cuff, dark dial, brand unreadable, and a set photo cannot say whether the watch belongs to Drummer or to Ford. Nobody has identified it.
