Arnold Schwarzenegger wears an U-Boat U-42 UNICUM

Trench Mauser enters the third film at the moment Barney needs him most: he arrives by helicopter with Drummer for the final battle, bringing Yin Yang, who now works for him. On his wrist is the U-Boat U-42 Unicum, and the contemporaneous census of the film's watches noted that Schwarzenegger went for his wabi sabi style Unicum. The trade press carried the placement from the brand itself: U-Boat's own announcement, run by Europa Star, says he wore the U-42 Unicum during the filming.

The watch is an exercise in manufactured age. The case is 53 millimeters of titanium under a black IP coating, with the crown set at 9 oclock on the left side of the case and a bidirectional bezel that locks with a lever on the right. The crown, the bezel screws, the locking lever, and the serial plate are bronze, the serial numbers are engraved by hand, and the aging is deliberate craft: U-Boat treats each brass dial with a natural aging process, and the hands are painted first, then discolored and scratched by hand to age them. Italo Fontana, who founded U-Boat, designed it, and when the watch was first shown in 2013 it was a one-off piece. His U-Boats did not stop at the one in the film. At the Cannes premiere he wore his own U-1942, a 65 millimeter U-Boat limited to 29 pieces, and the census added that his most recent acquisition was a bespoke VintageVDB.
