Mackenzie Foy wears a Hamilton Khaki Field

Mackenzie Foy plays the young Murphy Cooper in Interstellar (2014), the daughter who watches her father drive away to save the world and holds a grudge about it for years. Before he leaves, Cooper gives Murph a Hamilton Khaki Field as a parting gift. She throws it across the room. The watch sits in her bookshelf through the years that follow, gathering dust and meaning.

Christopher Nolan's film uses the Hamilton as more than a prop. It becomes the vehicle through which Cooper transmits data from inside a black hole, and adult Murph's realization that the watch's second hand is ticking out a message is the turning point of the entire film. Ellen Burstyn wears the same watch as elderly Murph in the final scenes. One timepiece, three actors, four decades of story.

The on-screen watch is not a stock Hamilton model. Hamilton built ten custom pieces specifically for Interstellar, drawing on elements of the existing Khaki Field line but with a unique dial, cathedral hands, and beige Arabic numerals. All ten were returned to Hamilton after filming. Five years later, in 2019, Hamilton released a commercial version, the Khaki Field Murph (reference H70605731), as a limited edition of 2,555 pieces. The retail watch matches the on-screen design but does not exist in the film's original 2014 prop inventory.
