Christopher Nolan directed Interstellar. Jessica Chastain plays adult Murphy Cooper, the daughter who stays behind on Earth while her father, played by Matthew McConaughey, travels through a wormhole looking for a habitable planet. The film's emotional weight rests on their relationship, separated by decades of relativistic time dilation. Murphy becomes a physicist working on the same gravity equation her father left to solve, and eventually cracks it using data transmitted through a bookshelf via gravitational waves. It sounds absurd summarized like that, but Nolan makes it work.
Murphy wears a Hamilton Khaki Field with a hidden detail: the word "Eureka" spelled out in Morse code on the seconds hand, a reference to Murphy's breakthrough in the film. Hamilton later produced a commercial version, the Khaki Field Murph Auto ref. H70605731, a 42mm automatic with an 80-hour power reserve. It became one of Hamilton's most successful movie tie-in watches, which is worth noting for a brand that has appeared in more than 500 films. The screen prop came first. The production watch followed because people wanted to own it.
