Kerry Condon wears an IWC Pilot's Watches

Kate McKenna runs the pit wall in F1 as the technical director of the fictional APXGP team, in the film's world the only woman holding that job in the paddock. Joseph Kosinski shot the movie during real Grand Prix weekends, IWC signed on as the team's watch sponsor and kitted out the cast, and the watch most reliably tied to Kate's wrist is one of the brand's smallest: the Pilot's Watch Automatic 36, in stainless steel with a black dial and rhodium-plated hands.

Which watch she is wearing in any given scene is a harder question than it sounds. Kerry Condon has said she wore her watch, two in fact, all the time: in Las Vegas, where the daytime heat made her wrist swell, she wore one, and she had a tighter one for the night race when it cooled down. IWC supplied close to a hundred watches to the production, and its chief executive admitted the brand itself only knows the placements on the main characters. IWC also built a Pilot's Watch Chronograph 41 in the team's black, white, and gold livery, and that one has been on Condon's wrist verifiably only once: at Goodwood, where she wore it to talk about the film.
