Javier Bardem wears an IWC Pilot's Watches

Ruben Cervantes spends most of F1 at the pit wall of APXGP, the struggling team he owns, a headset on his ear and the IWC logo on the garage wall behind him. Javier Bardem plays him as a smartly dressed former driver who pulls Brad Pitt's Sonny Hayes out of retirement in a last-ditch effort to keep the team from being sold. The watch reported on his wrist fits the wardrobe: a Big Pilot's Watch Perpetual Calendar in stainless steel with a blue dial, rhodium-plated hands, and a blue calfskin strap, its calendar built to run without a human correction until the year 2100.

IWC's involvement in the film went past costume jewelry. The brand signed on as official sponsor of the fictional team, put its branding on the cars, the race suits, the helmets, and the garage, and supplied close to a hundred watches to the production. Even IWC's chief executive said the company knows only which pieces were placed on the main characters, and that he was curious to see how many others would turn up on the wrists of the APXGP team.
