War Dogs (2016) is the true story two Miami twenty-somethings could hardly believe themselves: Efraim Diveroli (Jonah Hill) and David Packouz (Miles Teller) worked the post-9/11 rule that let tiny companies bid on military contracts, and won a roughly 300-million-dollar Pentagon deal to arm America's allies in Afghanistan. Todd Phillips directs Diveroli as the loud, swaggering half of the partnership.
His watches keep pace with the contracts. The big one is a Rolex Submariner Date; Wrist Enthusiast pins it to the aluminum-bezel reference 16610, the period-correct version for the film's 2006-to-2011 span, while other spotters have called it the later ceramic 116610. Alongside it he wears an 18-karat yellow-gold Cartier Américaine, the second watch the film hands him as the money lands.
