Jonah Hill wears a Cartier Tank Américaine

Efraim Diveroli was 21 when the Pentagon awarded his company a roughly 300-million-dollar contract to supply ammunition to the Afghan military, a deal he ran out of a storefront in Miami Beach. Todd Phillips directs War Dogs (2016) in a Scorsese register, all voice-over and needle drops, tracing the arc of a hustler who outgrows his own scheme. Jonah Hill plays Diveroli, Miles Teller is his best friend and partner David Packouz, and Bradley Cooper turns up as the shady arms broker who actually knows the trade.

As the money lands, Diveroli trades up to a Cartier Tank Americaine in gold, on a gold bracelet, worn alongside the steel Rolex Submariner he sports elsewhere in the film. Cartier introduced the Tank Americaine in 1989, reviving the elongated, curved lines of the 1920s Tank Cintree at the larger size the era wanted. It is a gold dress watch with Roman numerals.
