Jet Li wears a Panerai Luminor

Yin Yang sits out most of the third film. The character returns only at the climax, when Drummer and Trench arrive by helicopter for the final battle and Yang, now working for Trench, comes with them, the team's hand to hand combat expert back for one more fight. Jet Li built the credentials for that billing early: he was China's national all around wushu champion four times running, from 1975 to 1979, retired from competition at 18 with a knee injury, and made his film debut in Shaolin Temple in 1982.

His watch is the odd one out in the cast, and the reason is documented in an auction catalogue. The watch press that catalogued the film's wrists in August 2014 grouped Li with the rest of the team in the Panerai Submersible PAM00389. The screen used Yang wardrobe tells a different story. When the production's costumes went to auction at Heritage in October 2014, the Yang tactical ensemble, the kit with the ninja spike holders on the vest, the throwing darts, the rubber MP5K submachine guns, and a belt cut down for the character's smaller waist, listed a replica Panerai Luminor Marina among its contents. The promotional portrait of Li in that same kit shows the watch clearly: a polished smooth bezel and a small seconds dial, the Luminor Marina layout, with none of the Submersible's ceramic dive bezel. Whether the wardrobe piece was that replica or a genuine Marina is not settled by the photographs, and Li may have worn the team watch in footage we cannot check at this distance. What the evidence on this page shows is a Luminor Marina form on his wrist, and a production document putting a replica of exactly that watch in his costume kit.
