Murder Mystery 2, which Netflix released on March 31, 2023, sends Nick and Audrey Spitz, now full-time private detectives, to a Maharajah's wedding on his own private island; a bodyguard turns up dead, the Maharajah is kidnapped, and the ransom trail leads to Paris. Jeremy Garelick directed, from a script by James Vanderbilt.
For a while, the watch on Jennifer Aniston's wrist was listed in collector databases as a Cartier Tank, a guess that fit the silhouette: a small rectangle on a leather strap. The database entry hedged its own claim, noting the identification was not yet confirmed. Then the production's hero watch, the close-up prop itself, surfaced for sale at a dealer in production assets, mounted beside display artwork and a tag reading Audrey, Jennifer Aniston, hero watch. The photographs show a steel rectangular case with a white dial, a full set of printed Arabic numerals, a plain crown, a tan leather strap, and a short brand signature that is hard to read but is not Cartier. Nothing on the dial belongs to a Tank: no Roman numerals, no rail-track minute ring, no sapphire cabochon on the crown.
Audrey's watch, on the strength of the prop itself, goes down as an unidentified steel tank-style watch rather than a Cartier. The film hit Netflix's top ten in more than ninety countries and logged 173.6 million viewing hours by June 2023; the consensus at Rotten Tomatoes called it a genially mediocre sequel. The hero watch sold. The listing does not say for how much.
