Jason Statham wears an Omega Speedmaster

Arthur Bishop kills people for a living and arranges things so the deaths look like accidents. By the time of Mechanic: Resurrection (2016), Dennis Gansel's sequel, he has faked his own death and is living quietly under another name when an old enemy named Crain engineers him into falling for a woman, Gina, then takes her hostage to force three more impossible kills out of him. Jason Statham plays Bishop.

Bishop wears an Omega Speedmaster Professional, and the film does something the genre rarely bothers with: it stops to say why the watch matters. It was his father's, he tells Gina as he fastens it on her wrist, the only thing he has left of him, and he asks her to keep it until he comes back. Crain, who has known Bishop for years, spells out the rest later: he never once saw Bishop take the watch off, and seeing it on Gina's wrist is how he knows Bishop will do anything to get her back. The gift is the weakness, and Crain had built the whole plan around finding it.

There is a second watch, and the swap marks the moment Bishop goes back to work. The Speedmaster Professional, the manual-wind Moonwatch, belongs to the retired man; once the killing starts he is wearing an IWC Aquatimer Automatic 2000, a 46mm titanium diver, and the film introduces it the way it should be, with Bishop hauling himself out of the sea and onto a boat around the hour mark. The Speedmaster stays on Gina to the end. His father's watch and his working watch finish the film on two different wrists.
