Jason Statham wears an IWC Aquatimer

Arthur Bishop faked his own death at the end of the first Mechanic, and Mechanic: Resurrection (2016) finds him hiding out until someone kidnaps the woman he loves and hands him a list: three people, three deaths, each staged to look like an accident, in Rio and Bangkok and Sydney. Dennis Gansel directed it. Jason Statham does most of his own stunts, which here means a lot of time in and around water.

On Bishop's wrist is an IWC Aquatimer Automatic 2000, a titanium diver rated to two thousand metres, its black dial lit with green, on a rubber strap big enough to buckle over a wetsuit. The easy assumption is that a props person reached for a tough dive watch to match a character who keeps ending up underwater. The truth is smaller and better. The watch is his own. IWC's chief executive, Chris Grainger-Herr, once put it plainly: Statham buys and owns all his IWCs himself. Before he acted, he dove for England's national team.
