In Leviathan, at the table where the crew sorts the day's salvage, Cobb works something over in his hands and a black watch with a red marker shows at his wrist. Hector Elizondo plays C.P. Cobb, the station's hard-bitten chief mechanic, in George Cosmatos's 1989 deep-sea horror about a mining crew that opens a sunken Soviet ship and lets its curse into the water.
Cobb is the crew's fixer, the man who keeps the aging station running a mile down while the others haul wreckage, and the one most ready to say out loud how bad their odds are once the thing in the vodka starts remaking the men who drank it. Elizondo, a character actor whose run carried from this straight into Pretty Woman the next year, plays him as the crew's weary realist.
The watch is a black-cased diver with a dark dial and a red second hand, the working watch of a man who lives by the station's machinery, but no logo clears the frame, so it stays unidentified. It is the same black-and-red tool diver half the crew wears, standard kit for a job at a depth where the company counts a wristwatch as gear.
