Mathis is wearing a Hamilton when Bond gets him killed. Giancarlo Giannini plays René Mathis, the MI6 contact Bond knows from Casino Royale, now retired to an Italian villa when Bond turns up in Marc Forster's Quantum of Solace. Bond talks him into coming to Bolivia, and Mathis does not come back. The watch is a Hamilton Khaki Field Quartz on a brown leather strap.

The Khaki Field is Hamilton's military line, descended from the watches the company supplied to the U.S. Army during the Second World War. Mathis wears the quartz version, the plain working end of the range, its dial carrying both twelve and twenty-four hour markings and a date at three. It is a modest watch for a retired intelligence man, and a long way down-market from the Omega on Bond's wrist.

Hamilton has placed its watches in Hollywood films for decades, but it is still a small surprise to see one on a Bond-adjacent character in a film sponsored by Omega.
