Steven Soderbergh's third Ocean's film turns personal. When the casino developer Willy Bank (Al Pacino) cheats Reuben Tishkoff and lands the old man in the hospital, Danny Ocean's crew rob him for revenge rather than money. Brian Koppelman and David Levien wrote it, Brad Pitt and Matt Damon return as Rusty and Linus, and the usual ensemble fills the frame, Don Cheadle and Bernie Mac and Casey Affleck and Scott Caan among them.
The costume site BAMF Style, reading the film frame by frame, identifies Clooney's watch as a rose-gold Patek Philippe Calatrava, its silver dial and brown alligator strap the only warm note against an otherwise gray suit. The timing supports the call. Clooney did not sign as an Omega ambassador until March 2007, after this film had wrapped, so in the summer 2006 shoot a Patek was an open choice. Patek Philippe dates to 1839 in Geneva, and Adrien Philippe's keyless winding was one of its founding advances. The Calatrava arrived in 1932, named for the cross that became the firm's emblem, and set the template for the modern dress watch: round, thin, and plain, with nothing on the dial that does not need to be there.
