Danny Ocean runs the con in one watch and pulls the heist in another. Through the planning and across the Bellagio floor, George Clooney wears a Hamilton Linwood Viewmatic, a 38mm polished steel automatic with a textured silver dial, gold-toned hands, and a date at three, on a black crocodile strap. It is the dress watch, worn with the tuxedo through the long con.
When the crew goes to work on the vault, that watch comes off and an all-black Luminox goes on. The Luminox is the opposite of the Hamilton in every way that shows: black case, black bezel, white numerals on a black dial, no sub-dial. Its hands and markers carry tritium gas tubes that glow on their own, with no outside light to charge them first, the feature that earns the watch its place in a vault once the crew cuts the power. Matt Damon's Linus wears the same Luminox, and so does the rest of the crew. It is gear, not jewelry.
Luminox built its name in the early 1990s on this watch, the all-black 3000-series dive piece tied to the U.S. Navy SEAL teams. By BAMF Style's reading, Danny's is a variant of that 3000 series, close to the 3001 that Paul Walker wears in The Fast and the Furious the same year. No single reference is ever shown on screen, so the 3000 series is as far as the watch can honestly be pinned.
