- Jack Harmon (uncredited)
- Status
- Confirmed
Emilio Estevez dies in the first 20 minutes of Mission: Impossible (1996), and he is not even credited. Brian De Palma kills most of the IMF team in the Prague operation that opens the film, and Estevez's Jack Harmon, the team's tech specialist, goes out in an elevator shaft. Estevez took the role as a favor to Tom Cruise, and his appearance was kept out of the marketing.
The IMF Computer Wristwatch on Harmon's wrist is a custom prop, not a real watch. The team's video watches were built from black textured plastic with a removable green-tinted acrylic screen, faux buttons down the sides, and a hard rubber strap, designed to read as high-tech surveillance gear in an era when spy films needed visible technology on screen. Prop houses including Prop Store, Julien's, and Bonhams have since sold examples from the production. In the film the device displays mission data, the kind of gadget that looked futuristic in 1996 and dated immediately afterward.
