When Fast & Furious 6 opened in the summer of 2013, Oris put out a press release. The Swiss manufacturer announced that the film's stars had selected its timepieces, declared itself proud to be among this elite street-racing group, and named the placement that mattered: Dwayne Johnson, as DSS agent Luke Hobbs, wearing what the release called the ultimate timepiece in toughness, the Oris ProDiver Date. Screen-watch placements usually have to be excavated by hobbyists frame by frame. This one came with its own announcement.

The watch fits the billing. The ProDiver Date 1000m is a 49 millimeter steel professional diver rated to a thousand meters, a reference Oris has since discontinued, and one production still catches it plainly: Hobbs leaning against his truck across from Dom on a Canary Islands street, arms folded, the big diver riding his left forearm. In the film's other still he walks the bomb wreckage with Riley, tactical gloves swallowing both wrists, the watch out of sight and presumably along for the ride.
