Takers (2010) is a heist movie with a deep bench: Idris Elba, Paul Walker, Hayden Christensen, Michael Ealy, Matt Dillon as the detective chasing them, and the rapper T.I. as the just-released crew member who talks them into one last job. John Luessenhop directed it. Chris Brown plays Jesse Attica, the youngest of the thieves and the one who, in the film's best-remembered stretch, outruns the police on foot in a long parkour chase through downtown Los Angeles.
According to the French magazine Montres-de-luxe, the watch on Brown's wrist is a Cartier Santos on a black rubber strap. The Santos is one of the oldest names in wristwatches. Louis Cartier built the first one in 1904 for his friend Alberto Santos-Dumont, the Brazilian aviator, who wanted to read the time without taking his hands off the controls of his flying machines. It is one of the watches that pulled the wristwatch over from a women's accessory into something a man would wear. The black rubber strap points to one of the modern Santos models rather than a vintage piece. The only image on file is a film backdrop rather than a clear shot of the wrist, so the rubber-strapped Santos is the magazine's call, not something a frame settles here.
