Lorus is Seiko's budget brand, the cheap quartz watches sold in department stores and drugstores. Charlie Sheen wears one as Bud Fox in the early scenes of Oliver Stone's Wall Street (1987), before Gordon Gekko pulls him into insider trading and the money starts to arrive. It is a gold-toned quartz dress watch, white dial, black Roman numerals, on a leather strap, the kind a junior broker buys to look the part on a junior salary.

As Fox rises, the Lorus gives way to a gold Cartier, and Stone uses that swap to mark the corruption. The cheap quartz watch belongs to who Fox is before he decides to become someone else.
