Bradley Cooper wears an IWC Da Vinci

American Hustle puts Bradley Cooper's Richie DiMaso in the late 1970s, an ambitious FBI agent with a tight perm, running the Abscam sting that drives the film. In the scene where the operation finally breaks his way, Richie throws a fist in the air and whoops, a gold IWC on his wrist.

The watch is an IWC Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar, and it is from the wrong decade. Writing up the watches in the film, Time+Tide gave Richie's IWC zero stars and called it a period faux pas. The version on Cooper's wrist is a late-2000s design, roughly thirty years younger than the FBI man wearing it, and a perpetual calendar is a costly, complicated watch for a 1970s civil servant to have on at all.
