Antonio Banderas wears an Omega Seamaster

Galgo gets into The Expendables 3 (2014) by fraud. Antonio Banderas plays him as a man who has been turned away so many times that the recruiter sighs when he sees him: the resume says Felipe Silva, it is the third fake that month, and his last team dropped him for age. His pitch is the whole character in one line, I am healthier than I look, stronger than I look, faster than I look. Barney Ross walks away from it. Then Ross decides to fly back alone to rescue his captured recruits, and Galgo turns up in the hangar and talks himself onto a mission with no other volunteers. Where are the others, he asks. Just us, Ross says. Insane, Galgo answers. Courageous, but insane.

The Spanish Legion backstory arrives in his own chatter. He quotes the Legion song, I am the bridegroom of death, and pins it to a mission in Croatia alongside a point man named Mingo, the best he ever saw, pure ice in his veins. He talks like this for the whole flight, old teammates, old wars, a commander who taught him that the most important thing is patience, until Ross tells him he thinks he knows why the old team let him go. By the end Galgo has earned the words welcome aboard, and the team has to tell him, several times, that there will be no hugging.

His wrist is the one this film's watch coverage never solved. The survey that named the rest of the cast's hardware, the crew's titanium Panerai Submersibles, Stallone's Richard Mille, two U-Boats, a Snyper, reported that nothing had been spotted on Banderas at all. One anonymous reader answered underneath that Galgo wears an Omega Planet Ocean 9300 chronograph on a black rubber strap with orange stitching, and that comment is the entire paper trail behind the Planet Ocean identification. The production still does show a watch, on his right wrist above a fist full of gloves: polished steel case, black bezel, black dial with what might be chronograph counters, too soft to read a brand. It is consistent with the claim, and it proves nothing more.
