Near the end, Tony Montana slumps behind his desk in a black satin shirt, gold chains at his open collar, a whiskey tumbler and a clutter of gold spread in front of him. On his left wrist is a gold watch on a gold bracelet, and for decades collectors have called it a rare Omega La Magique.

The trouble is that the watch may not be an Omega at all. The popular read, the one Time and Tide settles on, is the La Magique: Omega's ultra-thin 18-karat dress watch, its quartz movement set off-center, only about 261 ever made. BAMF Style makes the other case, that the watch on screen is a gold Concord Delirium, the wafer-thin quartz piece billed in its day as the slimmest in the world at 1.98 millimeters, thinner even than the Omega. Auction houses now list the La Magique under the nickname "the Tony Montana," so the watch most people picture already carries the character's name. What is certain is the gold watch on Montana's wrist. Its maker is not.
