In close-up, the rectangular gold watch on Maurizio Gucci's wrist could pass for a Cartier Tank, until the camera catches the dial and its Arabic numerals mark it as a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso. Adam Driver wears the Reverso Classic Monoface through much of House of Gucci, against bespoke suits and, in one scene, just an undershirt. The Reverso's case flips within its carriage, a design built in 1931 so polo players could turn the crystal to safety; the Monoface carries a single dial and a solid caseback, so the flip shows nothing at all.

It is the wrong watch for the period, like nearly every watch in the film. House of Gucci runs across the 1980s and 1990s, but this Reverso, the Boucheron Epure that Driver wears in the opening scene, and the gold watches on Al Pacino's Aldo and Jeremy Irons's Rodolfo are all later models. Ridley Scott's production dressed the Gucci family in watches that look the part rather than match the dates.

Driver plays Maurizio, heir to the fashion house, opposite Lady Gaga's Patrizia Reggiani, who married him and later had him killed. The real Maurizio Gucci was shot outside his Milan office on March 27, 1995, at the age of 46.
