In Phillip Noyce's Clear and Present Danger (1994), Willem Dafoe plays John Clark, the deniable CIA paramilitary who leads an off-the-books strike against the Cali cartel in Colombia. In the rooftop reconnaissance scene he lies prone on a bell-tower ledge beside a suppressed rifle while a teammate glasses the town below, and a watch rests on his left wrist against the stone: a round, dark-cased dive-style watch on a black strap, with no brand or model readable in the frame. The record once identified it as a Porsche Design Ocean 2000, but that watch is defined by its integrated brushed-titanium bracelet and pale titanium case, while the one on screen is dark and on a strap, so the attribution does not hold. There is no source for it either, so the honest call is an unidentified tool watch, which suits Clark, a man whose whole job is to be untraceable. Until a clearer frame surfaces, the watch stays as deniable as he is.
