Timothee Chalamet wears an Elgin DeLuxe

Marty Supreme (2025) is set in 1952 and anchored in New York's Lower East Side. Timothée Chalamet plays Marty Mauser, a young table-tennis player with large ambitions and almost no money. Josh Safdie directed, Gwyneth Paltrow co-stars, and the film became A24's highest-budget feature and its highest-grossing release.

The watch on Marty's wrist is a vintage Elgin dress watch made around 1949 to 1951, identified as reference 6728A: a tonneau case in 10-karat gold fill with scalloped sides, curvy Arabic numerals, a squared-off seconds dial at six o'clock, and the DuraPower logo Elgin introduced in 1946, worn on a slim brown leather strap. Costume designer Miyako Bellizzi, whose work on the film brought her a first Academy Award nomination, chose it with property master Michael Jortner, who reportedly presented around fifteen vintage watches before the team settled on the Elgin.

Elgin, founded in 1864, was for decades one of the major American watch manufacturers; it built military watches during the Second World War, stayed popular through the 1950s, and sold the kind of accessible, American-made watch a working-class New Yorker could actually afford. During the film's press tour, beginning in October 2025, Chalamet himself wore an Urban Jürgensen UJ-2, and the following April the watchmaker announced that he had joined the company as a minority partner and creative advisor.
