Jane's Castle is quiet and methodical, a former FBI agent who disassembles John Travolta's crime empire the way you would take apart an engine, one bolt at a time. Roy Scheider appears in one of his final roles as Castle's father, and Ben Foster is nearly unrecognizable in an early supporting part. The film was shot in Tampa on a $33 million budget, and the Florida setting gives it a sweaty, noir-adjacent texture that New York would not have provided.
