Cruel Intentions opens in a Manhattan therapy office, where Dr. Greenbaum tells Sebastian Valmont that their work together is over. Six months of sessions have changed nothing, he feels no remorse for the women he manipulates, and when he tries to charm his way past her she ends it for good. Swoosie Kurtz plays the therapist, and this frame catches her embracing him on his way out, before she discovers that Sebastian is the one who humiliated her own daughter.
