Shiv Roy is the Roy who gets underestimated, the only daughter in a family of sons circling their father's company. Sarah Snook plays her in Cartier almost throughout, and by the middle seasons the watch is a Panthère de Cartier in yellow gold, worn close on the wrist like a bracelet.
Cartier introduced the Panthère in 1983 and built it to blur the line between watch and jewelry, a small square dial set into a bracelet of links so supple it pools when you set it down. It was a power symbol of the 1980s, worn by the women that decade decided to notice, and Cartier brought it back in 2017 for a generation that wanted the same signal. In yellow gold it is unambiguous about being expensive.
That is a shift from the understated gold Tank Shiv wears in the first season. As she moves from the sidelines toward the actual fight for the company, her Cartier gets a little louder and a lot more gold, a woman done being the quiet one in the room and starting to dress like it.
