For most of The Hitman's Bodyguard (2017), Michael Bryce is a bodyguard in reduced circumstances, ferrying second-rate clients around London in a hatchback, and the watch on his wrist matches the new budget: a Henry London Knightsbridge, from a British brand whose whole catalogue runs about 85 to 150 pounds. The UK retailer First Class Watches spotted it in August 2017 and noted that Henry London had no placement deal on the film; Ryan Reynolds or his stylist apparently chose it themselves, pairing it with his Hugo Boss suit. The costume logic runs across the whole film: a Patek in the flush opening scenes, the Henry once Bryce is down on his fortunes.
The brand is barely older than the film. Two young fashion designers found a vintage Swiss watch at Portobello Road market in Notting Hill, engraved "Henry, August 1965" on the case back, and when both of them wanted to wear it they recreated it instead, launching Henry London at Baselworld in 2015. The collections are named for London neighbourhoods, Westminster, Pimlico, and the Knightsbridge that landed on Bryce's wrist as costume shorthand for how far the world's former top protection agent has slipped.
