Roger Moore wears a Seiko G757-5020

In Octopussy (1983), Q hands James Bond a Seiko and explains exactly what it does: "The homing device is compatible with the standard issue radio directional finder in your watch." Bond uses it to track a bug planted in a Fabergé egg, and director John Glen cuts to the watch again and again as 007 reads the signal across India. The model is the Seiko G757-5020 Sports 100, and Seiko Time (UK) Ltd is credited in the film's closing titles.

The real watch is an early-eighties digital with a black horseshoe-shaped bezel around the display and a stopwatch; the homing receiver was the screenwriters' invention. Bond keeps the Seiko on from the pre-title sequence, where he poses as General Toro, through the auction at Sotheby's and the chase across India, to the climax at a United States air base in West Germany, where he defuses a nuclear bomb dressed as a circus clown. On screen the bracelet's clasp is taped over in black.
