Robert De Niro wears a Bulova Two-Toned Quartz

In December 1978, Jimmy Conway and his crew walked roughly $6 million out of the Lufthansa cargo terminal at JFK, the largest cash robbery on American soil at the time, and over the next year Jimmy had most of the people who helped him killed so none of them could put him there. So what does a man sitting on that kind of money wear on his wrist? Nothing you'd remember.

Robert De Niro plays Conway in Goodfellas (1990), Martin Scorsese's adaptation of Nicholas Pileggi's Wiseguy, the story of Lucchese associate Henry Hill (Ray Liotta). Conway is based on James "Jimmy the Gent" Burke, and the fact that runs him is fixed: Burke was Irish, so no matter how much he earned, he could never be made.

De Niro cycles through a few watches across the film. For the 1980 stretch, in the dark windowpane jacket, BAMF Style reads the one on his wrist as a two-tone Bulova quartz - a steel case, a gold-toned bezel, a silver dial with gold hands, on a panther-link bracelet with little gold ball accents. Bulova was founded in New York in 1875 and sold watches like it by the thousand. You could have picked one up at any mall in the country.

After the heist his clothes only get plainer. He spends the back half of the movie telling everyone to lay low, and the flashiest thing on him is the three diamonds in his pinky ring.
