"Let me tell you what 'Like a Virgin' is about." Mr. Brown gets maybe ten minutes of screen time in Reservoir Dogs before he takes a bullet in the head during the getaway, but Quentin Tarantino gave himself the film's opening monologue and made it count. His 1992 debut announces itself immediately: pop culture theory delivered at volume over breakfast, by men in black suits who are about to do something violent.
In the diner image, Tarantino gesticulates with both hands while holding court, a watch visible on his right wrist — a light-colored piece on what appears to be a metal bracelet. It hasn't been identified. Mr. Brown dies before reaching the warehouse. Tarantino cast himself as the first casualty, the talker who runs out of time before anyone else.
