A Long Way Down (2014) opens with four strangers who climb to the same London rooftop on New Year's Eve, each of them planning to jump, and end up talking one another down instead. Pierce Brosnan plays Martin Sharp, a breakfast-television host whose career collapsed after a scandal and a prison term. Pascal Chaumeil directed the film from Jack Thorne's adaptation of Nick Hornby's 2005 novel, with Toni Collette, Imogen Poots, and Aaron Paul as the other three on the ledge and Sam Neill and Rosamund Pike in support.
Brosnan wears two watches across the film: a Panerai Luminor in the holiday scenes and, in the London and dressier scenes, a gold Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso. Both appear to be his own, since he has been photographed in each off screen and in other films. Jaeger-LeCoultre built the first Reverso in 1931 for British army officers playing polo in India, giving it a case that flips face-down on a sliding cradle to protect the crystal during a match.
